Once that the Action B2.Characterization of local biomass fly ash as technical by-product has finished, INTROMAC has drawn conclusions relative to the fly ash active surface for the heavy metals adsorption.

Along the first part of the Project iCirBus-4Industries, INTROMAC has carried out compositional, physical and behavior analyses on several fly ash and slag samples, which origin is two biomass power plants placed in Mérida and Huelva and that belong to ENCE. These fly ash and slag samples are obtained from the combustion of different raw material (woody, woody agricultural, agricultural herbaceous).

Highlighting the high values of specific surface obtained with the study of porosity distribution on biomass fly ashes and the relation of this property with a really good adsorption capacity, although significant differences are evinced depending on the biomass origin and the sample collection.

The results obtained will allow making progress with respect to the technical actions related to the reduction of heavy metals from sewage sludge. In addition some progress related to technical viability of these wastes as partial replacement in cement based construction materials.
