To evaluate the environmental impact of the development of the project on the management of biomass residues (in this case biomass ash) and sewage sludge, it is essential to carry out an analysis of the current situation.

To carry out this analysis, it was necessary to seek information through various sources, one of which has been through questionnaires made to project partners and other entities related to the sector. These questionnaires include data on waste generation, aspects of current management, etc.

Based on the answers obtained, we analyzed the current management and production conditions of those residues from biomass and sludge from wastewater treatment plants, which will be used as fertilizers once the heavy metals they contain are filtered, as well as for use in construction.

Once the initial situation of the waste used has been analyzed, the environmental impact derived from the first actions of the project has been evaluated. To this end, the actions of the Project have been defined and the environmental factors that converge in the environment have been analyzed. Subsequently, a cause-effect matrix has been constructed to identify potential impacts from the implementation of actions on affected environmental factors. After identifying the impacts, the qualitative evaluation is being carried out based on a series of criteria, which are the ones that will define the importance of each concrete impact.
