As shown in Action B3 in the proposal, trials at laboratory scale have been carried out in CTAEX for the reduction of sewage sludge heavy metals with fly ash from ENCE biomass factory. Sewage sludge was previously characterize in their heavy metals and fertilizing fractions (N, P and K).

The first mortar mixes are made with ashes from ENCE’s biomass plant. The determination of the ash activity index to be used as concrete additive requires the realization of mortar specimens to be subjected to compression subsequent tests. This property will allow to observe the pozzolanicity of the fly ashes.

Members of all institutions involved in the project participated in the first follow-up meeting of the project that took place at INTROMAC\'s facilities in Cáceres. Raquel Navarrete and Patricia Serrano of IDOM - NEEMO LIFE TEAM, made the first contact with the project team as well as follow the work developed.

Established by the technical committee of project the replicability criteria within Action 2: “Characterisation of ashes from biomass”, sample preparation and characterisation test of biomass ashes, in order to know their chemical composition and surface texture related to their adsorption capacity is on-going.
