According to Action B3 in the proposal, trials at laboratory scale have been carried out in CTAEX in order to test the capacity of local biomass fly, characterized by INTROMAC, as adsorbent agent of heavy metals in local sewage sludge from FCC Aqualia.

The promising values obtained by INTROMAC for the parameters defining adsorption capacity of fly ash have been confirmed with high Adsorption Capacity figures (%) for heavy metals solution, according to Villaescusa et al. (2004) methodology, where a mixture of fly ash and diluted metals are shaked.

After 30 minutes mixing, adsorption percentages for Cadmium, Chrome, Nickel, Cooper, Arsenic, Lead and Mercury reach 100%
